Pat McAfee announces that he's returning to College GameDay

Just over a month ago, it looked like Pat McAfee would not return to ESPN College GameDay for the 2024 season as he was not under contract. Wednesday, it was announced that he would return for the upcoming season, in a move that everyone should have seen coming.
McAfee will return to the show that will also include Rece David, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, and Lee Corso, and this year, former Alabama coach Nick Saban will make his debut. The two-hour show that leads into the noon time kickoffs will have a full staff and an interesting one, to say the least.
I get it, you either like McAfee or you don't, there doesn't seem like there's an in-between. He is loud, and outspoken, and fits right in with the college kids and rowdy partying atmosphere on college campuses.
This season is a big season for many reasons for college football. First of all, the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 are all going through realignment from coast to coast, the College Football Playoff is expanding to 12 teams and ESPN is the primary broadcast partner for the CFP and you have to imagine that the GameDay crew will be at as many sites as possible, including McAfee who has done his show on the road at sites before.
This is going to be an interesting year for Virginia Tech when it comes to College GameDay as the Hokies have not been on it for some time, but this could be the year that they make an appearance on it. Whether or not you like McAfee, he would certainly draw a huge crowd in Blacksburg this fall if College GameDay does visit Virginia Tech.
