We are still over two months away from the 2024 college football season. Virginia Tech will begin the season against Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee against an SEC team in a major rebuild. Predictions are starting to come in for the fall and Grant Hughes of 247Sports predicted the win/loss total for all ACC teams and had an interesting takeaway on the Hokies final record.

For Virginia Tech, Hughes has them going 8-4 overall and 5-3 again in the conference. He has them losing to Rutgers, Georgia Tech, and Clemson at home and Miami away. He had them predicted to finish seventh in the ACC behind Florida State, Miami, Clemson, North Carolina State, SMU, and North Carolina. As far as the Hokies' schedule goes, the only two teams on their schedule that Hughes has predicted to finish higher than them are Miami and Clemson.

"Virginia Tech is a trendy pick for a resurgence this season after a 7-6 finish last fall. The Hokies are a threat to put together a winning season in the ACC this year behind quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten. However, we aren't comfortable tabbing them a conference championship contender yet."

Virginia Tech has a lot of retainment for the upcoming season and a favorable schedule with no FSU, NC State, or Louisville, the three teams to beat them last season. Offensively, they will be able to put up some points, the big question will be whether or not they can put up enough to beat the better teams on their schedule. I think that they beat Rutgers and Georgia Tech at home with Clemson being a toss-up, but an under-the-radar road game that could be a loss is a trip to Syracuse. In the overall big picture, an 8-9 win season is likely, but would that be considered a good enough season in Blacksburg?
