The 2024 college football season is right around the corner and with that comes a ton of predictions ahead of a season that is expanding the College Football Playoff to 12 teams from four.

There is a lot of hype surrounding Virginia Tech this upcoming season as head coach Brent Pry and his staff have sped up the rebuild entering Year 3 after taking over for Justin Fuente. This season the ACC is adding SMU, Stanford, and California and the Hokies will travel to play Stanford on Oct. 5 on the West Coast.

With the season just over a month away, one national college football writer had 10 bold ACC predictions for the 2024 season and one of them included Virginia Tech and it was a big one, to say the least.

Brad Crawford makes one bold Virginia Tech prediction for the 2024 season

Brad Crawford of 247Sports made 10 bold predictions for the 2024 ACC season and his No. 2 prediction was the Hokies knocking off Clemson on Nov. 9 at Lane Stadium.

"Clemson won six straight over the Hokies, including a pair in the ACC final, with its last loss coming during the 2007 season. So, no one will see this one coming in November. This upset loss at Lane Stadium for Dabo Swinney's team will keep the Tigers out of the ACC Championship Game with a 6-2 conference finish and 9-3 record overall (with other losses to Georgia and Florida State). That would mark Clemson's third multiple-loss regular season in the last four years and push the Tigers just outside of the top 15 in the final rankings ahead of the selection committee's playoff vote."

This is certainly one home game on the Virginia Tech schedule that was circled a very long time ago when the schedule was released and it's a game that could have a ton of meaning in terms of the ACC Championship Game to be played in December. The Hokies have a doable ACC schedule with their two toughest games on paper at Miami and against Clemson. Trips to Syracuse and Duke will not be easy as will a home game against Georgia Tech, but if they hold court with one loss or less ahead of Nov. 9, this has the potential to be a massive game for both schools. A Virginia Tech victory would certainly signal that Pry has the program back.
