Friday night, the Virginia Tech football team thought that they pulled off a Miracle in Miami. Trailing 38-34 with three seconds left, quarterback Kyron Drones dropped back and lofted a Hail Mary to the end zone. Wide receiver Da’Quan Felton was ruled to have come down with the ball in between two teammates and three Hurricanes defenders.

After the ruling, the play went to video review and the call was overturned to an incomplete pass, which allowed No. 7 Miami to escape with the win. It was surprising that the call was overturned without indisputable video evidence.

Saturday morning on College GameDay, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit said that Felton caught the ball.

Kirk Herbstreit says that Da’Quan Felton caught the ball

Herbstreit said that Felton caught the ball with possession and had a foot down, which should have been a touchdown, regardless of the statement that the ACC put out after the game.

"His foot was down, he was laying had possession of the ball then it got dislodged,'' Herbstreit said. "I don't know how you flip that.''

There are a lot of theories on the call to begin with whether it was even a catch, but the fact of the matter is, it was called a catch of the field then overturned without indisputable video evidence. Virginia Tech should feel like they got robbed in South Florida of a victory.

For the record Herbstreit’s take makes it even more of a painful ending for Hokies fans as he also disagreed with the holding call at the end of the third quarter that wiped out a long P.J. Prioleau touchdown run. The rest of the crew, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee seemed to agree calling it a good sell job.
