Former Virginia Tech offensive lineman named Top 10 NFL guard for 2024
By Scott Roche
It's hard to believe, but former Virginia Tech offensive lineman Wyatt Teller is going to enter his seventh NFL season and his sixth with the Cleveland Browns. Last season, they rebounded from a 7-10 2022 season to go 11-6 and claim an AFC Wild Card berth in January. Their stay in the postseason lasted just one weekend after they were eliminated by AFC South champion, the Houston Texans, 45-14.
This season, the Browns are expecting to continue their climb as an AFC contender with the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Texans, and Buffalo Bills, and with training camp less than two months away, Teller and a teammate were recognized as two of the top players at their position returning in 2024.
Wyatt Teller named Top 10 guard entering 2024 season
Teller and teammate Joel Bitonio were each named a Top 10 guard returning for the 2024 campaign. Bitonio came in at No. 8 and Teller was No. 9 according to Pro Football Focus (PFF).
The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Teller, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and 166th overall by the Bills, earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2020 for Cleveland and has been reliable since arriving there. Last season, he played in 17 games and the 29-year-old also played in 17 games in 2021. He has played 76 of his 83 career games with the Browns.
Bitonio is a 32-year-old veteran who played at Nevada and he has been just as reliable as Teller with the Browns. He was drafted in the second round, 35th overall by Cleveland in the 2014 NFL Draft and has played his entire career to date with the Browns. He has played in 144 games, including 17 in 2021 and 2022 and 15 last season.
They are one of 10 duos who are ranked in the Top 32 by PFF and here is what they said about Teller.
"Teller sprang to life back in 2020 with the Cleveland Browns, having since earned two second-team All-Pro nods and three straight Pro Bowl selections while creating one of the best guard tandems in the league with Joel Bitonio.

Teller has earned a 70.0-plus PFF run-blocking grade in each of the past four seasons. There might not be a better run-blocking guard in the NFL than him on a snap-by-snap basis."
