Tuesday, the 2024 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament kicks off in Washington, D.C. at Capital One Arena. It certainly will be an interesting tournament this season with several teams, Virginia Tech included, needing to make a deep run to improve their chances of making the NCAA Tournament, or even winning it.

After this season, the tournament will move to North Carolina to a pair of different sites over the next five seasons.

ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament going to North Carolina

Starting next March, the tournament will be held in the state of North Carolina, and here is the schedule through 2029,

  • 2025: Charlotte, Spectrum Center
  • 2026: Charlotte, Spectrum Center
  • 2027: Greensboro, Greensboro Coliseum
  • 2028: Charlotte, Spectrum Center
  • 2029: Greensboro, Greensboro Coliseum

The conference for the most part has held the tournament inside arenas where professional teams play and two years ago when Virginia Tech went on a four-day run as the No. 7 seed and won the tournament behind MVP Hunter Cattoor, they did it in Brooklyn, New York, at the Barclay’s Center.

Moving the tournament to North Carolina is not bad for Virginia Tech fans who have always shown up in droves for the women’s tournament in Greensboro, even this season as the Hokies were the top seed.

The women’s tournament will spend next season in Greensboro, but when the men’s tournament goes there in 2027, the women will play at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.
