3 teams that can cause the most chaos in the ACC in 2024

The ACC has its fair-share of top-heavy football teams, but there are three teams that can throw the conference into complete chaos this fall.

The ACC is arguably a deep conference this season with a lot of teams capable of stepping up and separating themselves from the rest of the pack. The usual candidates, Clemson and Florida State would top that list with Louisville, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, and Miami not too far behind.

There are, however, teams that are going to make things difficult for ACC foes every week in 2024 and they could have a big hand in how things end up shaking out when all is said and done Thanksgiving Weekend. Chaos could insue this season in the ACC anf threse three teams can cause the most this fall.

Three ACC team that can cause the most chaos in 2024

. Preseason Over/Under: 8.5. . . 453. ACC. Last Season: 11-3. . 3.

Of the three teams that are making the ACC their new home in 2024, the Mustangs have a chance to make the biggest impact over California and Stanford. SMU has a very good quarterback in Preston Stone and some very good-skill players around him.

When they begin conference play for the first time, they get Florida State at home on Sept. 28 in what will be a very dangerous game for the Seminoles, then a week later, the Mustangs head to Louisville on Oct. 5 and if they get a split out of that game, they have very a doable remaining six conference games. However, whether can they compete with Power 4 schools every week is going to be the big question entering 2024.

. ACC. . . 445. . 2. . Last Season: 6-7. Preseason Over/Under: 7

One real dark horse team in the ACC this season is the Orange. Ohio State transfer quarterback Kyle McCord is one of the better transfer signal callers to end up in the conference under first-year head coach Fran Brown who has brought a lot of energy and transfers to New York.

Syracuse plays three teams that could be a factor in the race this season, NC State, Virginia Tech, and Miami. They have to travel to the Wolfpack, but they get the Hokies and Hurricanes at home in November at the JMA Wireless Dome. An over/under of seven wins with an extremely doable schedule seems like it could be a good pick. For the record, I have the Orange beating the Hokies on Nov. 2.

. . Last Season: 7-6. . 1. . ACC. 436. Preseason Over/Under: 5.

Nobody has a tougher schedule in the ACC this season than the Yellow Jackets. It starts in Ireland against Florida State, but Tech brings back a veteran quarterback in Haynes King with some good players around him. The big question for Georgia Tech is how well will the defense play and if it can improve from 2023, then a bowl game is certainly in play with a difficult schedule.

Georgia Tech might have the toughest schedule in the ACC and they will certainly have a say in who wins the conference. After FSU, the Yellow Jackets still have conference games remaining against Syracuse and Louisville in September, then games in October against Virginia Tech, Miami, and NC State.

There are a lot of teams that are going to have a say in how things unfold in the ACC this season, but SMU, Syracuse, and Georgia Tech can cause the most chaos for a conference that is very top-heavy. They get it all started Saturday afternoon kicking off Week 0 against the Seminoles in Ireland.
