Like it or not, realignment is becoming big in college sports. Gone is the PAC-12 that we all grew up with and we now have four new-shape power conferences, ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, and the SEC. You ge the feeling that it's only a matter of time before they combine into two power conferences. Honestly, it's only a matter of time, no?

Florida State and Clemson want out of the ACC and have made it well known. The conference is adding SMU, California, and Stanford this fall and it's going to make travel more difficult than it already is turning into. The Hokies football team will make the cross-country trip in October to play at Stanford on Oct. 5. Can't wait until the 10:15 p.m. ET kick time is announced in the fall.

As conference realignment talk continues and it feels like it will never go away, here are three schools that Virginia Tech fans would like to see kicked out of the ACC as it's currently constructed.

SMU Mustangs

I know, they have yet to officially make their appearance in an ACC contest, but what exactly does SMU bring to the table for the ACC? They couldn't consistently fill their 33,000-seat stadium in the AAC days and are coming off a football season that saw them lose the conference championship game before getting beat by Boston College, of all schools, in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl last December.

They are located in Dallas, Texas, but they are the sixth thought of school in the state of Texas behind Baylor, Texas Texas A&M, TCU, and Texas Tech. This was an odd choice for the ACC to go out and get and to me, they don't add anything to the ACC going forward.
