Going into the 2024 season, Virginia Tech football is ready to make a big jump in Year 3 of the Brent Pry-era. The Hokies won five of their eight ACC games last season to finish the regular season 6-6 and earn a Military Bowl bid before capping off a strong final three months with a 41-20 win over Tulane.

Virginia Tech has had a lot of retainment since they walked off the field a 55-17 winner over Virginia on Thanksgiving Weekend with nearly all of their offensive production returning along with wide receiver Ali Jennings and tight end Nick Gallo both using a redshirt medical year to return as well.

The Hokies looked good in their annual Spring Game on April 13 with a lot of key returning pieces picking up where they left off in 2023. Virginia Tech added some key transfer additions on both sides of the ball with Georgia State offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham joining the offensive side of the ball.

The key returning player is quarterback Kyron Drones as the Baylor transfer really played well after taking over for Grant Wells who was injured in Week 2 against Purdue. He became a duel-threat signal caller and found his footing since ACC play began with a strong finish to the season.

With a lot of retainment, there are still some players who could still play a big role and even have a breakout season on offense.
