Several former Virginia Tech football players are generating a lot of pre-draft hype for next month’s NFL Draft in Green Bay. After a quiet draft last April, it’ll be a different story this April for former Hokies.

At the NFL Combine, one player who opened some eyes with his performance was running back Bhayshul Tuten. From his work in the 2024 season for Virginia Tech to the 40-yard dash time at the combine, Tuten has certainly moved up a lot of teams' draft boards.

NFL analyst ranks Bhayshul Tuten in his 10 running backs for the 2025 NFL Draft

Last season, Tuten rushed for 1,159 yards and 15 touchdowns for the Hokies, and now, after an impressive combine, NFL analyst Maurice James-Drew ranked him in his top 10 for running backs for the draft. Here is what he wrote about Tuten,

With Tuten having clocked a 4.2 40 at the combine, there's no question about the one-cut runner's speed. His ability -- on full display in his transcendent, four-TD performance, against Boston College -- would provide an NFL offense with a powerful ball carrier who runs through tackles and has three-down potential. I envision Tuten making an impact in a Kyle Shanahan kind of system -- like Issac Guerendo did for the 49ers last season.

James-Drew has him listed as a system back and last season for the 49ers, Guerendo, a former ACC back at Louisville, carried the ball 84 times for 420 yards and four touchdowns. If Tuten can accomplish that as a rookie this fall, then he’ll sign up for that seven days a week and again on Sundays.

There is no doubt that Tuten will hear his name called in Green Bay in late April, but expect him to make an impression in camps and get on the field in 2025, no matter which team drafts him.
