Late in the first half of Saturday night's ACC game at Miami, Virginia Tech men's basketball center Mylyjael Poteat went down with what appeared to be a knee injury after a Hurricanes player fell into his leg under the defensive basket.

After being down for a few minutes, Poteat was able to get up and gingerly walk to the Hokies locker room. He didn't return to the game after the ACC Network broadcast said that he was questionable. Thanks to the play of Ben Burnham, Jaydon Young, and Patrick Wessler, he was not needed.

That trio combined as part of the 53 bench points Virginia Tech got in an 81-68 win over Miami to complete the season sweep of the Hurricanes. However, after the game, head coach Mike Young gave an update on his senior center and it sounded better than some might have thought.

After the Hokies collected their seventh conference win of the season, fifth on the road, Mike Young provided an update on Poteat's injury.

That is very good news that it's nothing that's going to be substantial as Virginia Tech could ill-afford to lose Poteat for what likely would be the rest of the season. He had six points in the opening half against Kidd and is a presence inside that the Hokies can't afford to lose.

It would not be surprising to see him miss Virginia Tech's next game on Tuesday night at home against Louisville as the Hokies begin a three-game home stand with Syracuse and North Carolina to follow. They close out the regular season in two weeks at Clemson before the ACC Tournament, a place where the Hokies will likely end up after the win over Miami.
