The overhaul for the Virginia Tech men's basketball team for the 2026-27 season is well underway. Head coach Mike Young has seen several players enter the Transfer Portal this month to find new homes. Some are remaining in the ACC, with freshman guard Neoklis Avdalas landing at North Carolina and center Antonio Dorn at Wake Forest.

The exodus this season feels a little bit like the exodus in 2024; however, this time, Young and his staff were able to retain some key players, forwards Amani Hansberry and Tyler Johnson, and point guard Ben Hammond. That is more talent than was retained two years ago when the exodus happened.

Young has been adding pieces slowly to his roster for the 2026-27 season, and he picked up a portal commitment on Monday.

Virginia Tech gets Transfer Portal commitment from Elon's Ned Hull

David Cunningham of Tech Sideline reported that Elon guard Ned Hull posted on Instagram that he was committed to the Hokies. He is the fourth portal commitment this cycle for Young and the Hokies after Oklahoma's Kuol Atak, San Diego State's Miles Heide, and Floirda Atlantic's Isaiah Elohim committed.

Hull is going to be a redshirt junior for the Hokies next season, and he averaged 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds for the Phoenix. In 20 minutes in Elon's trip to Blacksburg back in December, the 6-foot-3 Hull had six points, both on 3-pointers in the Hokies 82-81 overtime victory. He twice scored a season-high 15 points against Hampton and William & Mary. He had 14 in the first meeting of the season against William & Mary.

It remains to be seen what Young has in store for the Charlotte native in terms of playing time next season, but he does bring a lot of experience to Virginia Tech as the roster rebuild for next season continues.
