On Monday morning, Cole Bergeron, a four-star quarterback, de-committed from Virginia Tech, which wasn't really a surprise. He committed to the Hokies back in August to former coach Brent Pry, but with signing day two days away, he reopened his recruiting for next season.

That announcement from Hayes Fawcett of Rivals came a couple of hours before four-star Troy Huhn from San Marcos, CA, was to announce his decision between Virginia Tech and Penn State. He previously committed to Franklin at Penn State before he was fired in October. 247Sports has him listed with a four-star composite ranking.

He recently took a visit to Virginia Tech, and on Monday, Huhn committed to the Hokies. He is the 21st-ranked signal caller according to 247Sports and the 37th-ranked prospect out of California. After Bergeron de-committed, landing Huhn was big. He has been someone who was on Franklin's radar since he was hired, and his following him to Virginia Tech is not surprising.

Virginia Tech lands commitment from three-star QB Troy Huhn

It is not surprising that Huhn flipped to Franklin and Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-5, 215-pound Huhn joins a growing list of former Penn State commits flipping to Virginia Tech and Franklin. He joins running back Messiah Mickens and offensive linemen Marlen Bright and Roseby Lubintus. Former Wisconsin commit Maddox Cochrane committed on Sunday.

Huhn has a big arm and is a prototypical West Coast passer, and is a nice addition. Franklin is continuing his recruiting heater since accepting the job in Blacksburg. As soon as he was hired two weeks ago, he went right to work in recruiting for the Hokies' home game two weeks ago against Miami. He also hosted recruits this past weekend while Virginia Tech closed out the 2025 season at Virginia.

Signing day is just two days away, and don't be surprised to see more recruits commit to Franklin and Virginia Tech.
