After going on a major recruiting heater on Sunday when he landed three four-star recruits in the Class of 2027, James Franklin had a quiet Monday and Tuesday this week. However, if you thought it would stay quiet for a long time, well, you haven't been paying attention.

Virginia Tech's Class of 2027, which was already a deep one with the recruiting heater Franklin has been on, got even deeper on Wednesday when the Hokies got a commitment from three-star athlete Semaj Dozier from New Jersey.

James Franklin stays hot on a recruiting heater with another 2027 CB commitment

So, as mentioned above, Dozier is listed as an athlete, but the Hokies, Franklin, defensive coordinator Brent Pry, and position coach Nick Perry see him as a cornerback. He'll be listed as an athlete, but he'll join a talented cornerback class and room in Blacksburg.

Virginia Tech picked up a cornerback commitment from four-star Bryce Woods on Sunday as part of the three commitments Franklin got. Dozier recently took a visit to Blacksburg, and the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder picked the Hokies over a pair of other ACC schools, Syracuse and Wake Forest.

According to 247Sports, Dozier is the 44th-ranked athlete nationally and the 20th-ranked prospect in the state of New Jersey in his class. What's interesting is that Dozier is a quarterback at Pleasantville High School, but will make the switch to the defensive side of the ball when he gets to Virginia Tech.

Make no mistake about it, this shouldn't come as a surprise to many people that Franklin was able to land a recruit from New Jersey. During his time at Penn State, he had a lot of success in the Northeast recruiting, and that isn't expected to change now that he's at Virginia Tech.

Over the last couple of months, Franklin's heater in recruiting, along with his assistants, has been putting the ACC on notice. They have moved inside the Top 10 per 247Sports, and it is only expected to climb over time as there are some big decisions and visits still on tap before things begin to wind down for the summer. Before then, expect the Hokies Class of 2027 to get better and deeper.
