It was a very busy weekend in Blacksburg for Virginia Tech football coach James Franklin in terms of recruiting. There were several priority recruits on campus, and when the dust settled, two gave their commitments before departing.

Four-star cornerback Bryce Woods committed to the Hokies on Sunday afternoon, but truth be told, he was the second four-star to commit to Virginia Tech. Before Woods committed, Franklin got a commitment from four-star wide receiver Cam Wade.

A Leesburg native, Wade, who had over two dozen offers, committed to the Hokies over Maryland and Florida State. He relocated to the Commonwealth a few weeks ago. He hasn't been on Virginia Tech's radar for long, but once he was, Fontel Mines and Franklin made sure to get a commitment.

Evan Watkins of VTScoop didn't beat around the bush when it comes to Wade, and the type of player Mines, offensive coordinator Ty Howle and Franklin are getting.

"Dynamic may not be the right word for a player like Wade. Maybe explosive fits better. While he isn't the biggest player on the field, Wade plays physical and has a lot of wiggle in his game that can be utilized both on offense and special teams,'' Watkins wrote.

Wade is the latest addition to the offensive side of the ball for Virginia Tech. He joins fellow wide receivers Demarcus Brown and Anthony Roberts, along with tight ends Jordan Karhoff, Sam Faniel, and Braxton Salster.

Wade is a huge addition for Class of 2027 quarterback commit Peter Bourque and is an addition that also raises the Hokies' recruiting ranking in the class this cycle to No. 7, ahead of Penn State. There are more commitments likely on the way as Franklin stays on a heater, and that ranking will likely continue to rise before all is said and done.
