On the NCAA Tournament bubble, according to Charlie Creme of ESPN, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team will close out a three-game homestand on Thursday night against Syracuse. After losing to No. 3 Notre Dame last Thursday, they beat a pesky SMU squad on Sunday afternoon.

This is a big game in terms of the ACC standings for boht teams as the Hokies are trying to solidify a spot in the Top 9 and avoid playing on the first day of the ACC Tournament next month, while the Orange is looking to get a place to make the tourney in Greensboro. This will be the only meeting between the two teams in the regular season.

How to watch Syracuse vs,. Virginia Tech women’s basketball

This season Megan Duffy and her team have avoided what is considered a “bad loss’’ so far this season as the loss to Virginia at the time wasn’t considered one. A loss to Syracuse would be considered one for a team squarely on the bubble.

Date: Thursday, Feb. 6
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Venue: Cassell Coliseum
How to Watch: ACC Network, ESPN.com, ESPN+, or FuboTV
Virginia Tech Record: 15-7 (6-5 ACC)
Syracuse Record: 8-13 (2-8 ACC)

The Orange enter the game dropping four of their last five games with their one win over that time against Clemson on the road. Their four losses have been to Virginia, North Carolina State, Louisville, and Boston College.

As for the Hokies, the success so far in 2024-25 under Megan Duffy has been balanced scoring on a nightly basis. Matilda Ekh got hot from behind the arc against SMU, while Rose Micheaux has been consistently scoring inside, even adding a short jumper to her game. According to the ESPN predictor, the Hokies are a heavy favorite to win, and with a favorable conference schedule down the stretch, they could solidify a spot in both big postseason tournaments.
