The last two seasons the Hokies have been fortunate to have had Tuten in the backfield and also Malachi Thomas who gave the North Carolina A&T transfer some breathers. Tuten is off to the NFL Draft and Thomas has entered the portal, but he was present at the Hokies bowl practice this week.

Despite having some promising young backs, Friday Tech picked up a commitment from Bowling Green transfer Terion Stewart. He is a back similar to Tuten where he is a smaller back, but can change the field quickly and force defenders to bounce off him or break through tackles.

This season for the Falcons, he rushed for 895 yards and six touchdowns while breaking 63 tackles. Even more impressive, 666 of his yards came after contact and he is the 14th-ranked running back according to 247Sports in the portal this cycle. He rushed for just under 2,400 yards at Bowling Green and 23 touchdowns.

Virginia Tech has a plethora of young backs with P.J. Prioleau coming back from a season-ending injury and Jeremiah Coney who should have a lot of carries in the bowl game. Incoming freshman Jeff Overton has a bright future, but Stewart is a nice option for 2025.
