Following a second-round elimination at the hands of Baylor in the NCAA Tournament last March, former Virginia Tech women's basketball coach Kenny Brooks left Blacksburg for Kentucky. Not surprisingly, also going with him was Clara Strack and Georgia Amoore, along with most of his coaches.
Also joining Brooks in Lexington was Clara Silva, who committed to the Hokies the previous summer and flipped when Brooks left town. Again, it wasn't surprising that she followed Brooks and she got into 31 games this season for the Wildcats, averaging 12.5 minutes a game, four points, 2.6 rebounds and just over a block.
On Sunday afternoon, Kentucky was upset in the second round at home against Kansas State when Amoore missed a game-winning shot at the buzzer. It marked the end to her great college career, but it also ended Silva's short stint with the Wildcats.
Clara Silva enters the transfer portal
On Tuesday, it was reported that Silva was leaving Kentucky and entering the transfer portal. She does have a no contact tag which means schools can't reach out to her. Now, that could mean one of two things, either she already has her new destination determined or her agent will handle the contact with schools. Hopefully it the latter and Virginia Tech and Megan Duffy can get involved in bringing her home.
BREAKING: Kentucky’s Clara Silva has entered the transfer portal with a “do not contact tag”, sources told @On3sports.

The 6-7 freshman averaged 4 ppg last season. Big loss for the Wildcats.

She would be the perfect fit for the Hokies next season after they lose Rose Micheaux this season to graduation and need help in the middle next year and beyond. She would be a natural fit for Virginia Tech with the expected returning talent.
Who knows, maybe Silva has her next destination already picked out, but Duffy can do the funniest thing and land Silva after she de-committed and followed Brooks to Kentucky. As it turns out, playing for the coach instead of the school didn't work out too well for Silva, and now it's time to bring her home.
