After being drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech, little did offensive lineman Wyatt Teller know what the future would hold. As a rookie, he started the last seven games for the Bills in 2018 in Western New York, but before Week 1 in the 2019 season, Buffalo traded him to the Cleveland Browns.
That move ended up working out well as Teller became a staple along the Browns' offensive line as a guard. He ended up starting 94 games for Cleveland, and in 2025, the 31-year-old ranked 57th out of 65 offensive guards in ESPN's pass block win rate metric and 40th out of 62 guards in run block win rate.
However, Cleveland rotated Teven Jenkins with Teller during the Browns' Week 13 game in December against the San Francisco 49ers after he suffered a calf injury. He came back for the Week 17 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and reinjured his calf, and was placed on injured reserve for the Week 18 game in Cincinnati, ending his season. In the end, it appears to have ended his career in Cleveland as well.
Former Virginia Tech OL announces he's hitting free agency
Teller is going to be a free agent, and on Tuesday, with his wife, they said goodbye to Cleveland with a social media post as he looks for a new home next season. This appears to be the beginning of some tough decisions that the Browns are making as they begin a rebuild.
Despite the injury, the former Hokies standout along the offensive line still wants to play and can help a team next season. Where that will be remains to be seen. Does he follow former Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski to Atlanta to play for the Falcons? Regardless, he'll likely find a new home for 2026 when free agency opens.
