The 2025 season has been nothing short of frustrating for the New York Jets. Inconsistent play, injuries and bad performances have led to a 3-12 record with two games remaining in the season.

They will host the New England Patriots in Week 17 on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium. The Patriots lead the AFC East at 12-3 and are one game up over the Buffalo Bills. They need to win their final two games of the regular season to win the division and end the Bills' reign. Both New York and New England will enter the game very banged up and missing key players.

The Jets will enter the game with Brady Cook getting his third start under center for Aaron Glenn's team, and he will be backed up by a pair of former Virginia Tech quarterbacks.

Jets elevate Hendon Hooker from practice squad against Patriots

Recently, the Jets signed former Hokies quarterback Hendon Hooker to the practice squad, and on Saturday, they made a slew of moves ahead of the matchup against New England, which included elevating Hooker from the practice squad.

That move was made after Tyrod Taylor was absent from New York's practice on Friday for a personal reason. Hooker was with the Detroit Lions in the preseason before being waived. He was signed to the Carolina Panthers practice squad before he was again waived in early November.

Bhayshul Tuten out again

In more former Virginia Tech football players news, the Jacksonville Jaguars will travel to play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon with a chance to clinch the AFC South title. If they are going to do it, they are going to need to do it without running back Bhayshul Tuten, who missed the game with a finger injury, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. He also reported that Tutan didn't travel for the potential hat and shirt game.
