If there is someone who knows what Virginia Tech can be and wants them to be, it's former cornerback DeAngelo Hall. The former Hokies and NFL standout made a career of making it a long day or night for quarterbacks, whether it was in college or the NFL.
As a former player, he has a different perspective on the game than a fan. After recently discussing Brent Pry's recent firing, he spoke about the roster this year and revealed a surprising admission.
DeAngelo Hall reveals favorite Virginia Tech player on the 2025 roster
Hall spoke to Betway Insider and revealed his favorite player to watch on the current Hokies' roster. A former cornerback, Hall revealed that Virginia Tech quarterback Kyron Drones is his favorite player to watch and why.
"I always watch Kyron Drones,'' said Hall. "We live and die on a football field by your quarterback position. So, I’ll always watch the quarterback to see if he’s making the right reads, getting the ball out of his hands and putting the offence in a position to be successful.
"But when we talk about translating to the next level, Drones is a player who has immense talent, and he’s always a player I watch out for."
This hasn't been the best start to the year for Drones, except for last Saturday's win over Wofford. He has trouble holding onto the ball in terms of fumbling it, and his reads and forcing throws have led to some questionable decisions.
Drones has a chance for a clean slate beginning with conference play this Saturday at North Carolina State. You could make the case that Drones has the talent to play at the next level, and Hall is right, but he's still got a lot of things to clean up before thinking of getting that far.
