This was supposed to be the season. Virginia Tech football was supposed to be back in Brent Pry's third year in Blacksburg. Roster retainment after winning six of their final nine games in 2023 to go along with some key transfers, the Hokies were set up to take the next step in the rebuild.
We're not breaking any news here, but the step forward that everyone thought was coming is taking a step back, and honestly, they are on the verge of taking a big step back. Virginia Tech dropped to 5-5 with a lackluster 24-14 loss at home against Clemson on Saturday afternoon is a game that was not as close as the final says. After another disappointing loss, Hokies' fans are reaching their boiling point with Pry and his staff.

It was another disappointing game in 2024 for the Hokies. They were outplayed, outcoached and outexecuted all day long and the only reason the Tigers only put up 24 points, all in the second half, was because they kept shooting themselves in the foot. They were their own worst enemy.
How bad are things right now? Well, another week and another comparison to Justin Fuente and his disastrous era in Blacksburg. You really can't begin to disagree that it's starting to go down that road right now if we're being honest.
Is the season over? No, but still needing a win to become bowl-eligible and being 5-5 after 10 games is nowhere that the fan base thought this team would be at when the season began. Virginia Tech has their second bye next week and then a trip to Duke on Nov. 23 before the regular season final at home against Virginia on Thanksgiving Weekend.
