Barring a Portal Nightmare, Expect an improved Hokies in 2025

The 2024 was a season to forget. The Hokies were a sexy pick in the preseason with all of their returning production. They fell flat, but don’t give up all hope.

The 2024 regular season is complete and most Hokie fans would tell you that Brent Pry’s squad fell short of expectation. The season started with a whimper, losing to perennial cellar dweller Vandy, in a game the Hokies were favored by two scores. It never truly got better.

"The only consistent thing about the 2024 Hokies were that they were remarkably inconsistent."

Roy Hatfield

When I look forward to 2025, I’m actually bullish on Virginia Tech Football. I may be completely wrong, but I believe in Brent Pry. He has managed to undo some of the damage done by Justin Fuente in recruiting the state. He is committed to relationship building which will lead to future results. He has a decent staff. I like how he has incorporated “Virginia Tech” guys and outside counsel. I think the man has a plan, and I imagine he will be walking tall at A.C.C. Media days next spring.

He has built the deepest QB room at Virginia Tech since some guy named Frank Beamer roamed the sidelines. Where Virginia Tech ends up in the bowl pecking order this season doesn’t change my opinion on the progress Pry has achieved.

You know what they say about advice, but I will share mine here. We are in an arms race, and currently, we are losing. Ten win seasons don’t come cheap, and if you look at Dabo, Mario, hell even Florida State, we are losing.

If you have the means then flood the Hokies with cash. It takes money to get players. It takes money to keep players. You don’t think Brent Pry is self-recruiting right now? Does it take a village to raise a child? It takes an entire fan base to resurrect a program. Unless you want to go 6-6 next year.
