The first weekend in November didn't disappoint in the ACC. There were upsets and some near-upsets. If there is one thing we learned, the road to Charlotte for the ACC Championship Game got tougher for a lot of teams, while some stayed in the race with some dramatic wins.

There is a new number one that just keeps on winning.
17. Boston College (1-8, 0-5)
- Last Week: 17
- The Eagles hung tough with Notre Dame before falling 25-10. The fanbase is growing frustrated with Bill O'Brien with each passing week.
16. Syracuse (3-6, 1-5)
- Last Week 15
- The Orange were UNC's first power conference win under Bill Belichick on Friday night. Next up, a trip to South Bend for Fran Brown's group.
15. Stanford (3-6, 2-4)
- Last Week: 13
- The Cardinal dropped a home game to Pitt and continues to play out the season while looking for its next head coach.
14. North Carolina (3-5, 1-3)
- Last Week: 16
- After falling behind 10-3 at Syracuse on Friday night, the Tar Heels scored the final 24 points to pick up Belichick's first ACC victory.
13. Virginia Tech (3-6, 2-3)
- Last Week: 11
- The Hokies held a nine-point lead on Louisville at halftime on Saturday, only to be outscored 21-0 in the second half, in what was a brutal offensive half.
12. Florida State (4-4, 1-4)
- Last Week: 14
- After a bye week and a loss at Stanford two weeks ago, the Seminoles blew out Wake Forest, 42-7.
11. Clemson (3-5, 2-4)
- Last Week: 10
- Things are getting really sticky with the Tigers and Dabo Swinney after a 46-45 loss to Duke at home on Saturday.
10. California (5-4, 2-3)
- Last Week: 9
- The Golden Bears dropped a home game to Virginia, going 0-2 in eight days against the two Virginia schools. All of a sudden, Justin Wilcox's seat is getting very warm.
9. North Carolina State (5-4, 2-3)
- Last Week: 12
- Every year, Dave Doeren sees his seat get hot, then he wins a game to cool it off. The Wolfpack knocked off previously undefeated Georgia Tech at home Saturday night. All is right at NC State again.
8. Wake Forest (5-3, 2-3)
- Last Week: 6
- Who would have thought that Demon Deacons would lay an egg at FSU after stunning SMU at home last weekend?
7. Miami (6-2, 2-2)
- Last Week: 4
- Ah, yes, the annual Mario Cristobal late-season meltdown and the Hurricanes' playoff hopes dashed in the first weekend in November after being the No. 2-ranked team just two weeks ago. Saturday's overtime loss at SMU was just the latest in Miami's midseason meltdowns under Cristobal.
6. Duke (5-3, 4-1)
- Last Week: 8
- The Blue Devils stayed in the hunt for the ACC Championship Game with a wild 46-45 shootout win at Clemson. Duke's destiny could be in their hands with their upcoming schedule.
5. SMU (6-3, 4-1)
- Last Week: 7
- The Mustangs rebounded from their loss at Wake Forest with a thrilling win over Miami in overtime, 26-20.
4. Pittsburgh (7-2, 5-1)
- Last Week: 5
- The Panthers continue to fly under the radar in the ACC after a road win at Stanford. Pitt is still very much alive for a possible trip to Charlotte next month.
3. Louisville (7-1, 4-1)
- Last Week: 3
- They don't ask how this time of year, but 'if'. The Cardinals escaped Blacksburg with a 12-point win on Saturday, but lost running back Isaac Brown late in the game with an injury.
2. Georgia Tech (8-1, 5-1)
- Last Week: 1
- The Yellow Jackets fell for the first time at NC State on Saturday night, and it throws the rest of the conference standings at the top into chaos.
1. Virginia (8-1, 5-0)
- Last Week: 2
- The Cavaliers are the last undefeated team in the ACC and on a path to Charlotte. Their schedule says a perfect conference record is doable, but can they finish it off against Wake Forest, Duke, and Virginia Tech?
