The Virginia Tech football team will enter this week's matchup at home against Georgia Tech on a two-game losing streak. They suffered a devastating loss two weeks ago at home against Pittsburgh as John Love's missed 36-yard game-winning field goal sailed wide left. Then this past weekend, they suffered what many considered an embarrassing loss at California, a team that was severely undermanned.

Despite opening as a double-digit favorite against the Yellow Jackets this weekend, the Hokies will play one more game next weekend at Clemson on Oc t. 24 before they finally get a bye week Halloween Weekend before the final four games of the season in November.

Virginia Tech gets prime time slot at Clemson on Oct. 24

On Monday, the ACC announced the Week 8 times and TV destinations for each conference game. Virginia Tech and Clemson wil kickoff either 7 or 7:30 pm. The official time and TV destination will be confirmed after this weekend's games.

Head coach Dabo Swinney has been quietly on the hot seat for the Tigers, and with a couple of years of regression in some analysts' and fans' eyes, his seat isn't cooling off. Clemson had a bye week this past weekend after losing the previous weekend at home to Miami. The Tigers will have a cupcake non-conference game at home this weekend against Charleston Southern before Virginia Tech visits.

As for the Hokies, it's all about rebounding this weekend against Georgia Tech at home, a team that just took down previously undefeated Duke at home on Saturday, 28-25, when the Blue Devils missed a game-tying field goal.

After a 4-0 start to the season in James Franklin's first season in Blacksburg, the Hokies are sitting at 4-2 and need two wins in their final six games to return to a bowl game later this season. In reality, a six- or seven-win season is still very much on the table, something that a lot of people expected and would take, as Franklin is still in the process of putting his stamp on the program, which will take some time.
