2024 Week 12 12-Team College Football Playoff Rankings: Welcome Deion Sanders & Colorado
By Scott Roche
The 2024 college football season has been one where there have been changes weekly to the 12-team College Football Playoff Rankings Projections. Week 12 saw teams that needed and should have, won, except for Tennessee at Georgia. However, there is one team taking advantage of another team's loss to enter the field and it's going to ruffle some feathers.
Late Saturday night, BYU, the lone remaining undefeated team in Big 12 play, lost at home to Kansas, a team that is under .500. That removes the Cougars from the field and right now, makes Deion Sanders and Colorado the team to beat in the final two weeks and possibly the Big 12 Championship Game in three weeks.
Whether or not that happens, remains to be seen, but right now, the road through the Big 12 goes through Boulder. At the beginning of the season, that was not on a lot of people's bingo cards, but here we are with two weeks remaining in the regular season, Colorado is a real threat to crash the CFP field next month. Let's take a look at the CFP rankings projections after Week 12.
Week 12 12-team College Football Playoff Rankings Projections
Rank | Team | Why They're Here | Last Week |
---|---|---|---|
1. | Oregon | Big Ten Champ | 1 |
2. | Texas | SEC Champ | 2 |
3. | Colorado | Big 12 Champ | NR |
4. | Miami | ACC Champ | 4 |
5. | Ohio State | At-Large | 5 |
6. | Notre Dame | At-Large | 6 |
7. | Indiana | At-Large | 7 |
8. | Penn State | At-Large | 9 |
9. | Alabama | At-Large | 10 |
10. | Ole Miss | At-Large | NR |
11. | Georgia | At-Large | 11 |
12. | Boise State | MWC Champ | 12 |
Tennessee falls out along with BYU after losing at Georgia by two touchdowns and Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss return to the field this week with an at-large bid. Without a doubt, if Colorado can get in, what a win for the CFP committee and TV ratings. Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, and Travis Hunter playing for a National Championship. Of the TV ratings bonanza.
The closer we get, the clearer things will get, but there are still two weeks remaining in the regular season before Championship Weekend and there is still a lot to be determined on the field.
