Virginia Tech women fall one spot in AP Top 25
In the latest Associated Press women’s Top 25 poll, despite getting two wins in the last seven days, the Virginia Tech women dropped in the poll one spot to No. 16.
Last Wednesday, the Hokies beat Long Island, 96-50, at home behind a record-setting performance for assists and 3-pointers made in a game at Cassell Coliseum. Sunday, Virginia Tech rolled over Radford, 85-40, to improve to 7-2 on the season as they enter exam week. They return to the court Sunday night at Rutgers at 5:30 in a non-conference battle.
Rutgers RB to return for 2024 season
In Week 3 back in September, the Hokies lost 35-16 at Rutgers to drop to 1-2 on the season. It was a disappointing loss as they fell behind, and made a second-half rally only to come up short when the Scarlet Knights made some big plays in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. A key contributor for Rutgers that afternoon is returning for one more year in the Big Ten.
Running back Kyle Monangai is returning to coach Greg Schiano and his staff for 2024 and Rutgers will be at Virginia Tech in Week 4 in September. This season against Chris Marve’s defense, Monangai scored three touchdowns and rushed for 143 yards on 16 carries.
Da’Wain Lofton receives offers in the transfer portal
Virginia Tech wide receiver Da’Wain Loftan announced on X that he’s received offers in the transfer portal. Lofton announced that he’s received offers from Boise State, Alabama A&M, and Bethune-Cookman. He will stay with the Hokies through the Military Bowl on Dec. 27 against No. 23 Tulane.
Virginia Tech sells out Miltary Bowl
Monday it was announced that all the allotted tickets to Virginia Tech for the Military Bowl have been sold out.
It should not come as a surprise that Virginia Tech sold out their allotted tickets as Hokies fans travel well no matter where the game is.
