The transfer portal has opened for college football and players are flocking to it in droves through the first two days. Two members of the Virginia Tech football team, tight end Dae’Quan Wright and running back Bryce Duke had already entered the portal.

Early indications are that Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry and his staff are looking to add offensive linemen from the portal and reshape that unit for 2024. Imagine the season quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten could have behind a new line.

It appears that offense isn’t the only area the Hokies are looking to improve upon as they are in the market for defensive linemen and one ACC lineman in the transfer portal is going to visit the Hokies in Blacksburg.

Duke’s Aeneas Peebles scheduled a visit to Virginia Tech

Duke defensive lineman Aeneas Peebles has scheduled five visits with Virginia Tech being one of his stops. He is also scheduled to go to SMU, Missouri, Louisville, and Penn State. The 6-foot-1, 286-pound Peebles had 40 tackles for the Blue Devils this season with 11 solo and four sacks.

One of the top defensive linemen currently in the portal, Peebles would be a big addition to Chris Marve’s defense after Antwaun Powell-Ryland announced on Sunday that he’s coming back to Blacksburg next season. Powell-Ryland had 9.5 sacks this season and getting Peebles to come to Virginia Tech would make it very difficult on opposing offenses in 2024.

Virginia Tech’s defensive line got better as the season went along and turned into a stout group, which was a big reason why they went 5-3 in the ACC after starting the season 1-3 to become bowl-eligible. The Hokies are going to look to cap off a strong second half of the season with a win in the Military Bowl on Dec. 27 against Tulane.
