Sunday, the College Football Playoffs were announced when the Final Four teams were picked. Going in, there were a lot of questions as to who was going to get the final two slots behind Michigan and Washington. One of those teams was Florida State from the ACC a team that beat Virginia Tech earlier this season.

Florida State capped off a 13-0 season Saturday night with a 16-6 win over Louisville in the ACC Championship game in Charlotte. They won the game minus their top two quarterbacks and finished undefeated as a Power 5 school, but in the end, it wasn’t enough.

Texas was the third team in the CFP and Alabama was the fourth team selected, leaving Florida State and the ACC out of the playoffs. Despite being conference foes, Virginia Tech and ACC fans on X (formerly Twitter) reacted to the Seminoles being left out.

I have to agree, that you feel terrible for Florida State coach Mike Norvell and his team, finishing undefeated at 13-0, winning the conference championship, and still finding themselves on the outside looking in when it comes to the College Football Playoff.

Injuries are something you can’t plan for, but regardless of who was under center the last couple of weeks for the Seminoles, they did what they had to do, they won a game. Their defense is one of the tops in the country, but in the end, they are out and college football fans are rightfully not happy. They can’t get to the 12 playoff teams quickly enough with the expanded postseason next season.

Norvell’s biggest coaching job is still ahead of him with trying to keep his team’s heads up after the disappointing reveal of the CFP Sunday and play a bowl game later this month.
