Virginia Tech football recruit decommits

Four-star defensive back Marcellus Barnes, Jr. committed to football coach Brent Pry and the Hokies back in June, but he announced on social media that he is decommiting from Virginia Tech to play elsewhere.

According to Andy Bitter of Tech Sideline, Mississippi and Georgia have been in on him. It’s not surprising that those schools would be in on him as before he committed to Virginia Tech, he had a handful of other offers to choose from, including those two schools. This is a big loss as he was someone who could have come in and started right away for the Hokies.

Women’s basketball remained No. 9 in the latest AP Poll

Monday, the Virginia Tech women’s basketball team remained No. 9 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll. They return to the court tonight at 6 p.m. at home against UNC-Greensboro.

Volleyball beats Wake Forest

The Hokies volleyball team picked up an ACC win over Wake Forest, 3-1, at Cassell Coliseum. After dropping the first set, Virginia Tech rallied to win the first three games, 25-23, 25-23, 25-11.

Improving to 13-14 overall and 3-13 in the ACC, Virginia Tech plays the first of their final two matches Wednesday afternoon at Cassell at 1 p.m. against Clemson. They will close out the regular season Sunday at home against Virginia.

The wrestling team fears well at Keystone Classic

The Virginia Tech wrestling team had four wrestlers win their weight class at the 2023 Keystone Classic in Philadelphia over the weekend.

Caleb Henson won the 149-pound title and he was joined by teammates Bryce Andonian at 157, Andy Smith at 197, and Hunter Cataka at heavyweight. The Hokies will return to the mat at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 1 and 2.
