After 11 games, the 2023 season for the Virginia Tech football team comes down to the season final next Saturday against Virginia. After losing 35-28 at home to North Carolina State yesterday, the Hokies sit at 5-6 and need a win in Charlottesville against the Cavaliers to become bowl-eligible.

It is not going to be easy for the Hokies to beat Virginia on the road, but on Sunday, they opened as a favorite over their in-state rival.

Virginia Tech opens as a favorite vs. Virginia

According to DraftKings, Virginia Tech opens as a 2-point favorite. Saturday, following the Hokies’ loss to the Wolfpack, it was announced by the ACC that the game would kick off at 3:30 p.m. on the ACC Network in the primetime mid-afternoon slot. Last Monday, the conference announced that the game was a six-day determination flex.

As we have seen in past weeks, expect the line to go back and forth before kick-off as a lot is riding on the game for the Hokies and Virginia would love to end Virginia Tech’s hopes of getting a bowl game next month.

Virginia QB Anthony Colandrea predicts a Cavaliers victory

After Virginia beat Duke, 30-27, at home Saturday, Cavaliers quarterback Anthony Colandrea predicted that they were going to beat Virginia Tech to end their season on a high note. This season, they have an impressive ACC road win at North Carolina in October, then on Nov. 9, they held a fourth-quarter lead at Louisville before the Cardinals rallied for the win.

Virginia is 3-8 this season, but they have been putting up points on the scoreboard as of late, and by now, we all know about the Hokies’ struggles away from Blacksburg, but they need to follow the same plan they did two weeks ago when they went to Boston College and put together a dominating performance for their first road victory of the season.
