In this edition of Virginia Tech News, football coach Brent Pry is excited to send his seniors off with a Senior Day, and the women’s basketball recruiting class ranks in the Top 10 for 2024.

Virginia Tech seniors get their day vs. NC State

Senior Day for the 2022 Virginia Tech football class was canceled because of the tragedy that happened on the campus of the University of Virginia. It was the right call.

Saturday, the Hokies will host North Carolina State and Pry is thrilled to have an opportunity to send his seniors off with a day where they will be recognized. He spoke about it on SiriusXM College Sports Radio recently.

“These seniors running out of that tunnel for the last time, I want them leaving that field with a victory.”

Not only is it the final game for the seniors in Blacksburg, but it’s also a huge game in terms of record and what is at stake with a win. A Hokies win makes them bowl-eligible and they won’t have to worry about going on the Thanksgiving Weekend and having to beat Virginia in Charlottesville. If they do, it will make for a long holiday week for Pry, his staff, and players.

Hokies women’s basketball recruiting class snags Top 10 ranking

ESPN recently ranked the Top 10 women’s basketball recruiting classes for the Class of 2024 and Virginia Tech ended up No. 6 on the list.

Five-star 6-foot-7 center Carla Silva from Portugal headlines the class and she committed to the Hokies in August. With Elizabeth Kitley graduating following this season, Silva will be looked upon to fill her void.

Three-star Myah Hazelton is a 6-foot-4 forward who can fill up the basket and is an excellent defender. Four-star guard Lexi Blue is the third recruit and the 6-foot-2 guard sees the floor well and can score.

Head coach Kenny Brooks continues to land some of the top recruits necessary to remain in the hunt as one of the top teams in the country.
