Virginia Tech truth: Virginia Tech has struck it big in the transfer portal
Thank goodness for the transfer portal. If not, can you imagine where the Hokies would be right now? It has been a savior for the offense and also, some of the transfers on defense are starting to make big impacts.
Drones, who came in from Baylor, has settled in nicely at quarterback, while he has got some big plays from wide receiver Jaylin Lane, who came from Middle Tennessee State, and Tuten, who came from North Carolina A&T has begun being an impact player running the ball. It would be nice if they could get Da’Qaun Felton, a Norfolk State transfer.
Lane and Drones are forming a connection, which was evident against Wake Forest when he caught a 75-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter and then a 12-yard tunnel screen in the fourth quarter. One transfer who has not made much of a contribution since the opening game is Ali Jennings and the Old Dominion transfer had a good game in the opener against his old team but suffered an injury in Week 2 against Purdue and hasn’t played since.
Moving forward, the transfer portal is going to be just as big as recruiting is for Pry and his staff.
