Virginia Tech football game vs. Syracuse nearly sold out

Another home game in 2023 and another near sell-out for the Hokies. After selling out Old Dominion, Purdue, Pittsburgh, and Wake Forest, the school announced that the game on Oct. 26 at Lane Stadium against Syracuse has only single tickets remaining. Expect the school to announce a sell-out before kickoff in a week.

This season, the Hokes ranked third in terms of attendance in the ACC at 65,000 a week, trailing only Clemson and Florida State Double check). The game against Syracuse is a rare Thursday night game and they come at 4-3 with three straight losses to North Carolina, Clemson, and Florida State, three of the toughest teams the conference has. Syracuse is better than their record and don’t let those losses fool you.

Kyron Drones one of three ACC QBs to throw for over 300 yards in Week 7

In Virginia Tech’s 30-13 win over Wake Forest, quarterback Kyron Drones was one of three ACC quarterbacks to throw for at least 300 yards last week joining Tyler Van Dyke of Miami and Jack Plummer of Louisville.

Drones threw for 321 yards and a pair of touchdowns to Jaylin Lane against the Demon Deacons. Van Dyke threw for 391 yards and four touchdowns in a loss to North Carolina, while Plummer threw for 350 yards and a touchdown in a loss to Pittsburgh.

Virginia Tech men’s soccer wins non-conference road game

The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team hit the road to Charlotte, N.C. Tuesday night and emerged with a 3-2 non-conference win over Queens (Charlotte). Tied 2-2 at halftime, the Hokies got a game-winning goal from Oliver Roche in the 50th minute to improve to 4-5-4.

Conor Pugh scored in the 12th minute before the hosts tied the game and Misei Yoshizawa scored in the 42nd minute, but Queens tied the game one minute later right before the half. Virginia Tech returns to action Friday night at home at 6 p.m. against 18th-ranked Virginia.
