Four weeks into the 2023 season, things have not gone as planned for the Virginia Tech football team. At 1-3, second-year coach Brent Pry is trying to rebuild the Hokies program, but he has encountered more negatives than positives.

Injuries have played a big part in the Virginia Tech start on both sides of the ball. They are currently on their second quarterback, missing key wide receivers, missing key players in the secondary. Adding all of that into slow starts in some games has not been a good combination for the Hokies.

The good news is that none of their three losses have been in ACC play, but all in non-conference games. Conference play begins this week when the Pittsburgh Panthers come to Lane Stadium for a primetime kickoff at 8 p.m. Getting Pittsburgh in the conference at home could be what Pry’s team needs to get things turned around.

Despite their 1-3 start, there are a lot of things that we have learned about the Hokies in the month of September and they are hoping to close out the month with a win on the final day over the Panthers. With that said, here are four things we’ve learned about Virginia Tech through the first four weeks.
