Virginia Tech Football: Brent Pry gives some positive injury updates
By Scott Roche
The injury news recently has not been good for the Virginia Tech football team. In their loss at Rutgers on Saturday, they played without a lot of starters. It has not been an ideal situation the last two weeks for coach Brent Pry and his team.
Tuesday, there was a glimmer of hope in terms of the injury front for the Hokies. They could get one player back on the field this week, while another key player is beginning the process of hopefully working his way back.
Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry gave positive injury news about two wide receivers
The Hokies 24-17 loss at home to Purdue in Week 2 was a painful one. Literally. It was a long day at Lane Stadium as the game was delayed 21 minutes at the beginning because of weather, then with 5:50 remaining in the first quarter, the game was stopped again for a lengthy delay that lasted more than five hours. Before the second delay and after it, Virginia Tech suffered a pair of key injuries.
On the Hokies’ first drive, wide receiver Ali Jennings was downfield blocking when his ankle was rolled up on. He left the game and was seen wearing a boot on his left foot. He missed last week’s game against Rutgers, but Pry said that the transfer will be in the weight room this week in an attempt to get back at some point this season. Hopefully, Tech dodged a major injury with Jennings.
As for Jaylin Lane, he came out of the Purdue game with a hamstring injury and was a game-time decision last weekend, but he ended up missing the game. He is questionable for this week, but Pry thinks he might be able to play at Marshall. Da’Quan Felton picked up his two teammates’ absence with backup quarterback Kyron Drones and hauled in a 39-yard touchdown pass aaginst the Scarlet Knights.
If Lane can return this week, that’s another wide receiver that can help Felton as he is another downfield threat for the Hokies.
