Despite trailing 21-3 to Rutgers, the Virginia Tech football team was still within reach in the third quarter. Baylor transfer Kyron Drones started in place of the injured Grant Wells and the sophomore played with a ton of confidence. The Hokies were able to move the ball, but came up short multiple times.
In the third quarter, Drones threw his first touchdown pass as a Hokie to get Tech back in the game and it was a thing of beauty.
Drones throws a perfect ball for Hokies’ first touchdown
Earlier in the third quarter, Drones threw a deep ball down the left sideline to Da’Quan Felton who was a step behind his defender, but the ball went off the transfer’s fingers and was incomplete. The duo didn’t miss a little later in the quarter.
Drones found a wide-open Felton four plays later with a beautiful pass and he caught the ball at the 10-yard line and went untouchdown into the end zone to cut the deficit to 21-10. It was officially a 39-yard pass.
