Virginia Tech football recruit decommits to attend another school
By Scott Roche
Two weeks ago, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry went recruiting the night before the Hokies season opener against Old Dominion. The second-year coach took a helicopter to Salem, Virginia to watch linebacker Chris Cole. Despite recruiting the linebacker hard, he chose to attend the University of Georgia earlier this week.
Friday, the Hokies got some more bad news as three-star defensive end Eric Mensah de-committed from Virginia Tech and instead will Ohio State University he announced on X.
He said, “I would like to start off with a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey in football an in finding the perfect school for me to continue my athletic career. Secondly, After careful consideration I have decided to decommit from Virginia Tech. After much reflection and discussion with my family, mentors, and coaches I believe it is in my best interest. This decision was not taken lightly, and it was arrived at after a long period of consideration. I would lastly like to announce my commitment to play football at The Ohio State University!!!!!!!!
Losing out on Cole and now Mensah decommitting are two tough blows for the future of the Hokies’ defense. Lately, the recruiting news in Blacksburg has not been positive for Pry and Virginia Tech.
