The long-awaited 2023 Virginia Tech football season is upon us. The Hokies kick things off Saturday night at Lane Stadium against Old Dominion.

How the season is going to go for second-year coach Brent Pry and his team remains to be seen, but there is nowhere to go but up after a 3-8 season in 2022. In an attempt to get more offense this season, the Hokies added three receivers in the transfer portal, while their defense is looking to rebound from an awful season under Pry.

It should not take much for Virginia Tech to get up for the first game as they are looking to get revenge for a 20-17 season-opening loss last September against a Monarchs team that finished last season at 3-9, losing their last six games.

Last season overall was a disappointing one for Pry and the Hokies. They were frustrated with the lack of offense in some games and their defense fell apart in other games, putting them in deficits they were not able to rebound from. In order to take the next step this season, they will need to turn things around against a tough non-conference schedule and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schedule.

With that said, here are three bold predictions for the 2023 football season for Virginia Tech.
