Believe it or not, Virginia Tech football has never played these FBS teams

Virginia Tech football hasn’t played these Big 12 schools
As previously mentioned, Virginia Tech only has a few chances each season to build their non-conference schedule. Specifically, they have four open slots on their schedule, though there’s always the chance of playing one of those random power conference teams in a bowl game.
In the Big 12, there are five teams that the Hokies have never faced, and there are actually a few they’ve only played once. Most of their games against the league have come against West Virginia, their former longtime conference rivals in the Big East.
This list will change dramatically based on conference realignment, but among current members, it’s a number that will soon drop to four. The Hokies have a home-and-home scheduled with BYU that will begin in 2026 in Blacksburg.
Additionally, they’ve never made their way to the Hawkeye State to face off against Iowa State, nor have they played several of the Texas schools. There may be a chance someday, but Virginia Tech hasn’t played Baylor, TCU, or Texas Tech.
