Overall Virginia Tech Baseball has compiled a 23-17 record, but have a conference record of 16-14. That does not inspire a lot of hope, as they are 5-3 outside of the conference. Currently, they have lost five of their last seven games losing three to NC State and two out of the three to rivals Virginia. Looking ahead at the next several games it does not get any easier.

The ACC is pretty loaded this year with talent, the to The Coastal Division is a fight between;

Virginia Tech 27-17 overall and16-14 in the conference.
Pitt 22-13 overall and 16-11 in the conference.
Georgia Tech 24-18 overall and 18-12 in the conference.
North Carolina 21-21 overall and 14-16 in the conference.
Miami 27-15 overall and 15-14 in the conference.

It will be really close when the season comes to a close between those five teams in the Coastal division.

Virginia Tech baseball is fourth in the ACC in batting with a .277 team batting average. They are also one of the fastest teams on the bases as they are high up on the stolen base list with 29, however don’t even come close to Louisville’s insane 89 stolen bases. The Hokies are seventh in pitching with a pedestrian 4.67 team ERA. Giving up an above-average .254 to opposing batters, but it is a tale of two stories here. As Virginia Tech is third in the ACC in strikeouts by a pitcher with 479.

Who are the best players for the Hokies by mid-May?

Batting would be the number two batter in the conference in Freshman Gavin Cross at outfield. With an average of .389 an on-base percentage of .462 and a slugging percentage of .733. Matching that with 10 home runs, five stolen bases, and 46 runs batted in.

Pitching Anthony Simonell who is  posting a 4.19 ERA with a record of 4-0. Out of the top-20 pitchers by ERA in the ACC only Simonell and Kirian the pitcher from Louisville post an undefeated record. Through 36 innings Simonell has only allowed 14 earned runs, which most likely has to do with his ratio of 40 strikeouts to just 16 walks. On April 17th, he allowed just two hits to six strikeouts and no earned runs in six innings. Which sent them to a 7-3 victory.
