Houston Texans

This may seem like an odd move right now with the lack of their current draft capital, but David Johnson seems to be one hit away from being done for the career. He is not the player they thought they were getting when they traded for him and the offense is now without Will Fuller. They will need to find offense from somewhere and with their franchise quarterback’s future up in the air, the answer might only be the ground game.

Khalil Herbert is similar to what they currently have in David Johnson, so his scheme fit is similar.

While I would not expect the Houstons to waste a ton of capital on him if he falls into their lap in the fifth round or later I would expect the pick. At that point not only would he be the best player available, but a need for that offense. The Texans are a bit of a disaster from every angle right now, but they need to start somewhere.

He could learn from a player who he seems to be a clone of, early in his career.

That could help not only his progression but his longevity. If Watson is out for the entire year, this could be a team that runs it 30-40 times a game. The ground game will have to carry this team, David Johnson can’t do it alone or stay healthy so they will need insurance. What better insurance for your top-running back than a player who can do the same things?
