Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals just cut Giovanni Bernard who was the back-up to starter Joe Mixon. Bernard is the same style of back that Herbert is. It would be a curious move for them to cut one of the longest-tenured players on the team without a plan. That and the fact Joe Mixon has not shown the ability to be healthy. So it seems all signs point to them drafting a running back in this draft.

The Bengals need a running back who can do exactly what Herbert can do.

Khalil Herbert would come in as their third down, and pass-catching back. Getting almost every target as Joe Mixon is one of the least effective pass-catching running backs in the NFL. This is also a high-powered offense that seems to be leaning toward drafting Twitter`s favorite player, Kyle Pitts at tight end. Which would give them and second-year quarterback Joe Burrow one of the most dynamic offenses in all of football.

Herbert would be able to step in on day one and get about a third of the work at running back.

The Bengals are still a long way off from being a top-end playoff team but have shown over the last several seasons they need multiple running backs to be effective. I like Hebert’s play style mixed with the offensive scheme they are currently running in Cincinnati. Who by the fifth round should have the holes fixed at offensive line, tight end, and defensive back.

Though Herbert might be on a much shorter leash here than the other teams, as their priory is the progression of Joe Burrow, so anything that stagnates that won’t last very long.
