Believe it or not, but we are just 14 days away from Virginia Tech beginning the 2025 college football season against South Carolina in Atlanta. The 13th-ranked Gamecocks and Hokies will battle in a standalone Sunday afternoon game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

It has been a long offseason in Blacksburg for head coach Brent Pry and his program, which has seen a lot of turnover with the roster and coaching staff. They are ready to get things going for real in what is a huge season for everyone.

Two Sundays until Virginia Tech and South Carolina kickoff the 2025 season

Fourteen days will be here before you know it. The number two is big for several reasons for Virginia Tech, and early in the season, they play their first two games against two SEC opponents. After South Carolina, the Hokies will return home to host Vanderbilt six nights later in what will be a big revenge game after last season's opening weekend overtime loss in Nashville.

After the tough first two weeks, Virginia Tech gets two home games against Old Dominion and Wofford that should be two wins before ACC play begins with a tough road game at North Carolina State.

The number two comes into play when you take a look at Pry's two new coordinators. Following a win over Virginia, Pry fired three assistant coaches, one of them was defensive coordinator Chris Marve, replacing him with former Arizona Cardinals linebackers coach Sam Siefkes. Then, in February, offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen left to take the offensive line coaching job at Ohio State, and Pry hired Philip Montgomery to replace him, which could be for the better when all is said and done.

This is a big season for the Hokies, and getting a pair of tests right out of the gate might be a good thing for a team in need of a big season.
