James Franklin is scheduled to be introduced as Virginia Tech's next football coach on Wednesday morning at Cassell Coliseum. He has a busy day in front of him in terms of the press conference, getting things running, which he has already been doing. He will end the day, time-wise, by being introduced at halftime of the Hokies' men's basketball game against Bryant.
Franklin stopped in at the Board of Visitors meeting on Tuesday, and he mentioned that he was flying into Blacksburg early Wednesday morning ahead of his introductory press conference. If Franklin thought he knew what he was getting himself into, he got a sneak peek at it as his plane landed shortly after 8 a.m.
Virginia Tech lineup at the airport to welcome James Franklin
After a decade of what many will call frustration and watching the program fall backwards nationally under Justin Fuente and Brent Pry, Franklin's former defensive coordinator at Penn State, fans are thrilled to have one of college football's top coaches coming to Blacksburg, per Andy Bitter of Tech Sideline.

After a quick meet and greet from Virginia Tech's welcoming committee, Franklin came over to greet the fans who got up early to welcome him to Blacksburg.

Tell me, fans haven't been waiting for someone like Franklin to come to Virginia Tech and turn things around. It won't take him long with the Transfer Portal, NIL, and recruiting at a high level. Virginia Tech has pledged to pump money into the athletics programs, and football will greatly benefit from that. It was one of the things that likely sealed the deal with Franklin.
Virginia Tech landing Franklin is the best possible outcome from the search committee. He will hit the ground running this week and lead into Saturday's home game against Miami with dozens of recruits expected in Blacksburg. Times are changing at Virginia Tech.
