After opening the James Franklin era with a 73-3 rout of VMI, the Virignia Tech football team will turn around and play a non-conference foe with whom they have had trouble in the past, Old Dominion. You don't have to look far to know the history between the two Commonwealth schools.
The most recent meeting ended Brent Pry's tenure as head coach in Blacksburg last September, when old friend Ricky Rahne blasted the Hokies, 45-26, last year in Week 3. However, that started the movement to eventually hire Franklin. Pry is back as the defensive coordinator under Franklin at Virginia Tech, and it'll be an odd reunion between the former Penn State assistant and Franklin on Saturday at Lane Stadium.
Old Dominion is coming into the game off a season-opening win over former Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick and Norfolk State.
