One of the hottest teams in the country in softball is Virginia Tech. The Hokies entered this weekend on a 10-game winning streak as they headed to Raleigh for a three-game ACC series at North Carolina State.

Virginia Tech won the opener, 10-2, on Friday night behind Emma Lemley. After taking Game 2, 3-0, on Saturday behind Emma Mazzarone in the circle, they completed the sweep on Sunday with another run-rule win behind the combined pitching of Sophie Kleiman and Lemley to pick up their 13th consecutive win.

Another game, another day where the Hokies scored early and often, setting the tone. They scored four first inning runs combining walks, errors, and hits for a 4-0 lead. Kylie Aldridge got the scoring started when her ground ball was misplayed into 2-0 runs on a throwing error. Jordan Lynch plated a run on a Wolfpack error, and a Zoe Yaeger sac-fly made it 4-0 before NC State even got to the plate.

Kleiman struggled in the first with her control, but she was helped out by some suspect NC State base running and left the bases loaded by getting a strikeout and a fly ball to avoid any damage. In normal Virginia Tech fashion in 2025, they sealed the game with the longball.

In the top of the fourth, Trinity Martin hit a three-run home run for a 7-0 lead, then in the sixth, Michelle Chatfield hit another three-run home run for a 10-0 lead before Lemley retired the Wolfpack in the bottom of the inning to secure the run-rule win.

Virginia Tech, ranked 11th going into the weekend, improved to 32-5 on the season and 11-1 in the ACC. They have a mid-week game at home against Charlotte on Tuesday night before hosting Notre Dame next weekend for a three-game series.
