After struggling last weekend in her ACC opening series, Virginia Tech softball pitcher Emma Lemley went to work between Sunday’s final game against Virginia and Wednesday afternoon at Kentucky in a key non-conference matchup against a ranked SEC foe.

The stop in Lexington was a short one for a single game as the Hokies continued onto Louisville for their second conference matchup of the season against the Cardinals. The trip started in what is becoming a very familiar fashion early in 2025, Lemley dominating in the circle.

Lemely fired her fourth no-hitter of the season, two were perfect games, and she was a sixth inning walk away from another perfect game. She has perfect games against Northwestern and the College of Charleston, while also no-hitting Liberty. Against the Wildcats, she struck out nine and got some help from her defense to keep the 23rd-ranked hosts from getting a hit.

How to watch Virginia Tech at Louisville softball weekend series

This is going to be an interesting weekend series for Virginia Tech on the road. The 16th-ranked Hokies are 20-5, while the Cardinals come into the weekend at 17-7 overall and 2-1 in the AC after taking two-out-of-three last weekend at home over Notre Dame. They beat Eastern Kentucky, 10-2, on Wednesday night.

Virginia Tech is clicking right now and picked to finish third in the preseason poll, they need to win as many series as they can this season to help their case to host a regional this season in the NCAA Tournament. Losing a series on the road to Louisville would not help their cause.

Offensively, Virginia Tech was limited to two runs by Kentucky, but they were more than enough for Lemely. Louisville was picked to finish 10th in the preseason poll going into the season and will be looking to build their resume with a solid weekend against the Hokies.

Games 1 & 2: Friday, 4 p.m. and 30 minutes after completion of Game 1
