Recruiting in the Class of 2027 is heating up around college football. Now that we are in the month of May, the next two months are going to be big in terms of visits and commitments.
As far as things go Jmaes Franklin and Virginia Tech, he is building a nice Class of 2027 on both sides of the ball. After getting a handful of commitments on the defensive side, the commitments have been rolling in on the offensive side.
Franklin has gotten commitments over the last week-plus from two running backs, a tight end, and a wide receiver. The Hokies are in on elite quarterback Peter Bourque, who de-committed from Michigan in December, but his recruiting has been a slow one since it reopened, with several major programs in the mix.
On the defensive side of the ball, recruiting has been booming for new defensive line coach Sean Spencer, who has already landed a slew of commitments. As far as the secondary goes, on recruit the Hokies have been in the mix for safety Elijah Butler.
Virginia Tech picks up Crystal Ball prediction for Class of 2027 safety
Virginia Tech picked up a pair of Crystal Ball predictions for Butler. Also in the mix for the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder are Auburn and Florida. Getting Butler would be a massive addition for the Hokies, Franklin, and defensive coordinator Brent Pry.
In past seasons, there was little chance that Virginia Tech would be in the mix with a pair of SEC schools, and getting Crystal Ball predictions in their favor. Times are changing, and things could get really interesting in terms of recruiting if they can flip a Virginia wide receiver commit in the class.
Butler landing with the Hokies would give them a key future piece in the secondary and would send a statement under Franklin by winning that recruiting battle with two SEC schools.
