Coming off a second round of weekend visits, things are going to pick up in terms of recruiting in the Class of 2026. There were several key visitors on campus this past weekend, including three-star defensive lineman Kamdon Gillespie.

He is one of the sought-after defensive linemen in the class, with nearly two dozen offers from Power 4 Conferences, including the ACC. He visited Georgia Tech two weeks ago and also has an offer from Boston College in the ACC. Meanwhile, SEC schools Kentucky and Vanderbilt, along with Big 12 school West Virginia, have extended offers to Gillespie. He still has a scheduled visit to South Florida on June 20, but before he makes that trip, a pair of Crystal Ball predictions from 247Sports has great news for Virginia Tech.

Two Crystal Ball predictions predict Virginia Tech to land Class of 2026 DL

Commitment season is right around the corner, and 247Sports has placed a pair of Crystal Ball predictions for Virginia Tech to land a commitment from Gillespie at some point. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Gillespie is a versatile player who can play multiple positions along the defensive line, which is something he is very open to doing. The Hokies could give him that opportunity under Brent Pry and Sam Siefkes. If Tech can get a commitment from Gillespie, this would be the first big commitment that Siefkes would get as the defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech.

There are still a couple of weekends recruiting-wise remaining in this cycle, and the Hokies currently only have three commitments from the Class of 2026: a wide receiver, linebacker, and kicker. Gillespie would be a big addition to the class, and it’ll be interesting to see if he ends up taking his visit to South Florida in a couple of weeks or if he makes a decision before then.
